Primary Purpose: McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific JD Admissions Office seeks to hire up to two full-time Graduate Alumni Recruiters. The start date for this position may be as early as June 1, 2020. This position is traditionally a temporary position, filled by recent law school graduates with an employment period of August 17, 2020 - November 20, 2020. However, given the current global Covid-19 pandemic, it is possible that the needs of the Law School and consequently, the JD admissions office, may change and require an extension of the employment period as well as a re-configuration of position duties and responsibilities. Start and end dates will remain flexible based on the needs of the JD admissions office/team and in direct response to circumstances surrounding Covid -19. The current health crisis has changed the way institutions are doing business all over the country and the world. McGeorge is following suit and is committed to remaining flexible while meeting the needs of applicants, clients, current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Essential Functions: COVID-19 and JD Admissions Employment:
Traditionally, this position requires a significant amount of travel and recruiting for us at various Graduate and Law School Fairs hosted by undergraduate campuses across the country, as well as city-wide law fairs hosted by the Law School Admission Council and other pre-law related organizations. However, with the new normal that has developed as a result of Covid-19 and social distancing protocols, it is likely that the way law schools recruit will change, including McGeorge School of Law. Government restrictions on travel as well as business closures and service reduction have created a need to at least think about how our strategies and the graduate recruiter position may change.
As always, the Graduate Alumni Recruiter will work with the JD Admissions Office to recruit a dynamic class of incoming law students. In addition to the possible job duties below, under the Traditional Graduate Alumni Recruiter Position, the individual(s) hired will be crucial collaborators with the JD admissions team in the following areas:
Speaking with prospects about McGeorge via phone, Zoom and/or email Helping with mailings to prospective students either in-person or remotely Planning and participating in virtual events for a variety of constituents, including but not limited to, applicants, admitted applicants, prospective applicants, pre-law advisors, etc. (answering questions, monitoring chat, etc.) Tours with social distancing (as allowed and in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines) Send out follow up post cards for virtual and possibly in-person visitors Edit and/or overhaul communication (Candidate Referral Service letters, collateral materials, webpages, newsletters, pre-law advisor page, etc.) Social media (posting for events, shooting videos for website, taking photos, etc) Assist in the development of part-time alumni profiles
A successful candidate will:
Work independently Work and engage with the JD admissions team remotely Be a self-starter Have experience with virtual meeting & engagement platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
Traditional Graduate Alumni Recruiter Position
During the fall semester, the Graduate Alumni Recruiter will effectively and enthusiastically: convey information to prospective applicants at on-and-off-campus recruiting events. He/she will be knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions that relate to the Law Schools academic programs, admission requirements, student life, and career services. In addition, he/she will be responsible for visiting and presenting to a variety of college-level classes and student organizations. He/she will send follow up written correspondence with those that he/she speaks to on the road. The Graduate Alumni Recruiter will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements and documenting all expenses to submit for reimbursement. Additionally, the graduate alumni recruiter may assist in processing applications and other administrative duties as assigned.

Graduate Alumni Position Beyond the Fall (TBD)
There is a possibility that this position will extend beyond November 2020 and carry over into the spring. The tasks and skills required are no different than those listed above, but could include the following additional work:
Assist with the review of applicant files for the class of 2021 Planning and participation in spring events like Admitted Student Days, information sessions, etc. Speak with admitted applicants via telephone, Zoom and/or email Tours with social distancing
Minimum Qualifications: JD from McGeorge School of Law. Ability to communicate via written and verbal communications. Experience with Zoom and WebX Experience and ability to use social media on behalf of the law school and JD Admissions Department
Preferred Qualifications: 1) May 2020 McGeorge graduate, with extensive involvement in extracurricular or co-curricular activities 2) Ability to effectively and enthusiastically communicate the distinctive strengths and benefits of a McGeorge legal education to multiple audiences 3) Strong written communication skills 4) Experience posting on various social media platforms 5) Fluent in Microsoft Office suites 6) Comfortable with digital communications software 7) Ability to work independently and effectively manage ones time 8) Comfortable taking instruction to understand and complete projects 9) Highly organized, detail-oriented and student-centered
