Luminate Broadband is a rapidly growing telecommunications provider in alluring Steamboat Springs, CO; the prime location for all things recreational. Due to its growth, Luminate Broadband is seeking an experienced and proficient OSP Engineer/Project Manager to oversee FTTP projects with varying degrees of size, scope and time commitments.
As the OSP Engineer/Project Manager you will provide leadership, guidance and oversight to OSP/ISP fiber projects. This includes, but is not limited to, designing and reviewing FTTP OSP networks, staking, material management, coordinating and overseeing vendors and contractors, assisting in GIS mapping, quality control, financial accountability, escalations, safety and risk management. You must possess a strong understanding and experience with managing projects, Telco OSP principles and procedures, FTTP architecture and topology, permitting, aerial and underground construction, fiber splicing and tracking of projects.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Develop and adhere to FTTP project plans, with focus on scope, time, cost, quality, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management
Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors and assigned stakeholders for multiple OSP projects
Design, review & approve FTTP OSP and Millimeter Wave networks, which includes internal and external partners
Administer meetings and ensure proper accountability for project related activities
Meet deadlines, which may include redirecting resources to complete priority projects
Strong emphasis on accountability and action-item-follow-through specifically related to the deployment of FTTP OSP & Millimeter Wave projects
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure overall project success
Comply with and respond to federal, state and local regulations
Analyze and develop internal processes and implement procedural changes as appropriate to enhance Luminate Broadband’s success
Assist in the procurement of materials, standards, and specifications for OSP and company resources, including making recommendations based on telco experience
Lead and support assigned direct reports
Successfully close out projects and define successes and opportunities for future projects to include process and operational improvement
Internal: Regularly confers with Luminate employees and other departments within the parent cooperative as needed
External: Maintains great relations with vendors, contractors, subscribers, customers, and the general public in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
This position requires sitting to complete work with a computer using a variety of software & GIS applications and telephone. 25%+/- of the time will be spent walking and standing in the field with various weather conditions, as well as occasional lifting and/or carrying and/or pushing/pulling of items less than 25lbs. Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position.
To perform the OSP Engineer/Project Manager role successfully, an individual should have the following education, competencies, and experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor of Science degree in Business, related Technical field or equivalent experience
Five or more years of experience in telecommunications with OSP fiber emphasis
PMP Certification preferred or applicable experience YEARS?
Proven experience competency? with GIS mapping systems
Proven ability to multi-task and plan/organize work to meet deadlines, all with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities
Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a team player
Proven leadership skills
Understanding and appreciation of technology and telecommunications along with general computer skills and proficiency in using standard office equipment
Normal office conditions, some irregular hours may be required. Occasional day time travel for training or various errands as needed to complete the responsibilities of the position.
The OSP Engineer/Project Manager is an exempt position.
