Position Summary:

Rutgers School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology partnered with the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance Program (VPDP)
Grant-Funded

  • Serve as the Vaccine Manager for the New Jersey Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program ensuring vaccines secured through a Cooperative Agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are managed and distributed appropriately amongst the approximately 900 enrolled medical providers throughout the state.
  • Oversees the development of systems to receive, allocate, distribute, and track COVID-19 vaccine. Develops training to ensure staff and providers are compliant with federal guidelines related to COVID-19 vaccine. Ensures COVID-19 vaccine is stored and handled in accordance with federal guidelines and that providers account for the vaccine on a dose-for-dose basis.
  • Provide day-to-day support of VFC Program operations, including oversight of field activities.
  • Provide direct supervision and management of the Vaccine Management Team including delegation of work, monitoring time and attendance, and providing day-to-day guidance. Supervise and train VFC program staff in the collection, tabulation and analysis of data obtained from VFC providers.
  • Research, analyze, and prepare reports related to New Jersey VFC Program including vaccine expenditure reports, vaccine loss data reports, and temperature excursion trend reports.
  • Monitor vaccine spend plan, vaccine distribution, and provider inventory management.
  • Develop competency with VFC Program policies, procedures and vaccine management systems. Be able to utilize identified systems to ensure accurate reporting to the CDC and manage vaccine spending and distribution.
  • Develop competency with the New Jersey Immunization Information System (the Registry) and its contained reports to support program operations. Be able to digest reports and aggregate data as required. Provide subject matter expertise to program leadership and the Office of Health Information Technology to ensure that VFC functionality within NJIIS is operationally effective.
  • Serve as the lead representative for handling multifaceted storage and handling issues. Complete assessments of provider storage and handling practices. Be able to analyze/digest data from pharmaceutical manufacturers and storage unit digital dataloggers regarding vaccine temperature excursions.
  • Serve as lead representative to address provider corrective actions and follow-up actions. Responsible for tracking and managing multiple complex corrective actions. Acts as a resource to providers in meeting VFC Program requirements and offers timely education in corrective actions. Performs necessary follow-up with providers to ensure that identified corrective actions are remediated.
  • Prepare technical VFC Program communications for dissemination to providers and the general public. Conduct web-based and in-person trainings for VFC Program providers.
  • Create, review and update standard operating procedures for VFC Program activities. Evaluate process and protocols to ensure efficiency.
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public, local health departments, and other stakeholders regarding VFC program policies and procedures.

    Minimum Education and Experience:

    Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, or other relevant Master's degree. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience and/or experience dealing with immunization activities.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Candidate should be fluent in use of computers and Microsoft Excel.
