Responsibilities The Clinical Applications Manager 1 reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and leads the CTMS (Clinical Trials Management System) Solutions and Services Team. This position will have 4-8 direct reports, and occasionally manage technical contractors, professional consultants, and vendor resources.
This position manages the implementation of new clinical software applications and integrations conducive to the optimization and execution of UCDH strategic objectives. This position will also manage system enhancements, maintenance, and operational support of the enterprise CTMS application and auxiliary clinical interfaces. This position partners with leadership teams to implement robust software solutions, reporting services, and integrations. This role recommends, implements, and operates tools and methods for securing software solutions and managing access controls in cooperating with cross-functional teams in IT, Research, Compliance, Finance, and Clinical Operations. This position also provides strategic direction on the communication, training, and change management aspects of implementing a new software solution and business processes. This role will manage a dynamic and talented team that challenges each other to reach their full potential; commit to career development and coaching. This position sets the vision, values, methods, obstacle, and measures of their team to foster innovation and continuous improvements.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, or related area; or equivalent combination of working healthcare experience and information technology training.
5 years' experience in healthcare information technology implementing clinical or business applications and providing operational support.
Knowledge of healthcare clinical, research, and operational workflow and processes and clinical terminology.
Experience providing application support by managing service requests, incidents, change requests, patches, and upgrades.
Project Management Certifications
Prior experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or Clinical Trails Management Systems (CTMS) application is preferred.
Prior work experience in healthcare, research or academic institution.
Demonstrates continuous technical training & development.
Knowledge and understanding of UC Davis University and Health policies and procedures Knowledge of ITIL Service Delivery principles and tools.
Strong oral and written communication skills, listening, Knowledge of Microsoft Office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
Experience creating policies, procedures, and processes for application support activities and managing projects.
Candidate must pass a background investigation, drug screening, Live Scan fingerprinting, and medical evaluation clearance.
Occasional travel required within California to other UC locations, or out of state for training and conferences.
Occasionally, with prior notice will need to work nights or weekends to support system go-lives or maintenance events.
