General Statement of Duties
Mount Wachusett Community College seeks an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching matters more than anything else in the pursuit of student success. Building positive connections, the faculty member within this Program will create a sense of belonging that motivates students and strengthens their desire to learn.
The Business Program faculty member will be responsible for classroom and online instruction in General Accounting, Computerized Accounting, Taxation and/or Managerial Accounting, Introductory Finance and Business Management. They will possess advanced digital literacy skills and the academic credentials necessary to provide students with the foundational knowledge required to pursue a career in Accounting and Business Administration. The faculty member works collaboratively with the Program to develop and implement a program-level assessment plan focused on the achievement of student learning outcomes. They identify and develop areas of growth for the Business Program responsive to the needs of students, the College and the workforce. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, the faculty member will ensure students receive a rigorous learning experience necessary to prepare them for future academic and career opportunities.
The faculty member provides classroom instruction in General Accounting, Computerized Accounting, Taxation and/or Managerial Accounting, Introductory Finance and Business Management as well as academic advisement for approximately 18 students;
Serves on college committees as elected or appointed;
Attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional and college meetings;
Teaches courses as assigned by the Dean;
Participates in student assistance/advisement;
Maintains office hours;
Participates in college service activities (e.g., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.);
Participates in community service; and
Performs other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in Business Administration with an Accounting Concentration;
College teaching experience, preferably at the community college level;
Five to ten years work experience in the field of accounting;
Experience developing new courses and programs.
Evidence of commitment to classroom teaching and learning, and the demonstrated ability to use computer-aided instruction, and other technologies in the classroom, to advise students to meet their goals, and to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population essential.
Skills, Knowledge, and Aptitudes
Demonstrated ability to teach courses (both seat-based and web) such as general accounting, taxation, managerial accounting and finance;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Doctorate in Business Administration;
Current Certified Public Accountant license;
Understanding and experience in civic engagement, cooperative education, and service learning.
