The Associate Veterinarian has many important responsibilities and plays many roles within the practice; however, the primary responsibility is to maintain animal health by diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries. The Associate Veterinarian works under the direct guidance and supervision of the Practice Manager (Operations) and Chief Medical Officer (Medical Protocols/Procedures). The Associate Veterinarian is to make every effort to help improve the quality of care given to the patients. The Associate Veterinarian leads the healthcare team in daily appointments, treatments, routine and emergency procedures and surgery. They provide continuing or individual assignments to the healthcare team indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures. The Associate Veterinarian uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions, but refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the Practice Manager or Chief Medical Officer for decision or help. Administrative supervision may be provided by the management team.

Boston Veterinary Clinic provides primary veterinary care to dogs and cats in Greater Boston. We have two locations: South End/Bay Village and Brookline, with a third announced clinic in the Seaport District of Boston opening in late 2020.
