This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining University web sites that comply with branding standards, accessibility guidelines, and usability guidelines set forth by the University. Using HTML, CSS, SQL and PHP, the successful candidate will work with team members and customers to identify project requirements, assist with technical design, implementation, and maintenance of web sites and web site features. Demonstrated expertise in both web design and front-end development are required.
Front End Web Development – Provides design and front end code for website projects that demand new or unique design outside of the existing web design elements. Creates new element design and CSS that meets brand standards and client needs.
Web Design and Implementation – Provides suggested design for sites utilizing existing CMS elements and works with web content team and web editors across campus to implement and publish approved designs.
Information Architecture and User Testing – Supports the creation of information architecture documents as needed for new web projects in partnership with web content experts. Designs, implements and analyzes user tests as needed to test user experience of new and existing sites.
Project Management – Provides project management for design and development projects as assigned, including working with campus clients to define needs and goals and present technical solutions to meet those goals.
A minimum of 3 years experience in web design and front-end development
Bachelor's degree in web-related field, or equivalent experience related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundation and frontend libraries
Deep experience with Drupal and experience designing and developing within WordPress
Comfortable with version control through code repositories
Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
Experience designing and developing for a large, enterprise site with thousands of pages that demands an understanding of and respect for simultaneously delivering brand consistency and functional flexibility
Experience working on a web team in a university setting
