Information Systems Specialist - Facilities and Services 14773
The Facilities Management department of Facilities & Services is seeking applications for an Information Systems Specialist. This position is responsible for the technical system administration and functional upkeep of the Series 25 suite of programs, academic scheduling at WVU with assistance to the regional campuses, and additional classroom management functions.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will be:
Responsible for the technical system administration and maintenance of Series 25 systems, including 25Live. Responsible for setting up the configuration and administrative tools for each new or existing group in 25Live. Responsible for setting up and maintaining security configuration in 25Live for departments and spaces. Implement and maintain the web publisher component of 25Live. Responsible for recruiting new groups on campus to use 25Live. Provide new and ongoing technical training and support for users of 25Live.
Responsible for scheduling general purpose classrooms for all sections offered each term using Series 25 systems and Banner. Coordinates with SLI coordinators in the departments, colleges, and schools to ensure accurate information. Runs error checking processes weekly and fixes errors directly, delegates work to the Scheduling Assistant, or contacts the departments specifically to work through the errors. Administer the scheduling algorithm (S25) to assign general purpose classrooms. Assign additional rooms in Series 25 based on departmental requests. Respond to event requests for general purpose space. Delegates smaller event requests and work to the Scheduling Assistant. Answers phone calls and emails related to scheduling department issues. Adheres to current policies and processes and works to develop new policies and processes when necessary.
Responsible for technical testing and documentation of any upgrades and/or patches involved with various software packages. The software packages involved with training materials, trainings, and technical testing include (but are not limited to) all Series 25 products, Microsoft Office products, Share Point, CS Gold, and Banner.
Responsible for providing back up assistance to the Space Manager and the Scheduling Assistant when necessary. Run canned X25 utilization reports and manipulate these reports into various Excel graphs and analysis. Run weekly locks reports and set locks schedules for buildings in CS Gold. May assist in the classroom inventory process.
Responsible for performing other duties and ad hoc tasks as required and directed by the Assistant Director of Facilities Planning and Scheduling.
Bachelor's degree required, equivalent work experience is not acceptable. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics or another analytical discipline preferred.
Two (2) years of technical experience in a computer-related customer support field.
Two (2) years of experience in public speaking, training or giving presentations.
Two (2) years of experience utilizing concepts of optimization in quantitative discipline environment to achieve quantitative goals.
Two (2) years of experience in project management.
Six (6) months of experience in web creation/development preferred.
Familiarity with multiple computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Access, email, Share Point, and web development applications.
Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Demonstrate ability to learn new software packages and report writers.
Demonstrate ability to implement and troubleshoot software applications and computer programs.
Demonstrate ability in independent decision making.
Excellent verbal and visual communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
Demonstrate triage skills in diagnosing and resolving software issues.
Demonstrate technical writing skills to transfer information into non-technical formats.
Demonstrate technical problem solving skills.
Demonstrate ability to perform duties and responsibilities with attention to detail and support for organizational policies, as well as the ability to anticipate demands/pressures of assignments and adjust accordingly.
Demonstrate consistency and success in adhering to deadlines; the ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and schedule in an efficient and productive manner.
Ability to be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Valid driver's license required for travel to regional campuses and out of town meetings.
Tour classrooms as part of a team to verify capacity counts and attributes during every semester.
May have to move classroom furniture to match appropriate room layouts and/or reach correct capacity during every semester.
