Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Corporate Risk Control is the front line risk team for Corporate Risk and is accountable for assessing and ensuring effective management of associated risks generated by Corporate Risk, as well as conformance with enterprise policies, frameworks and standards. This team plays a critical role in the planning, assessment, control, mitigation, monitoring and testing phases of the risk program implementation across risk types for each of the groups making up Corporate Risk including Compliance, Operational Risk, Credit/Market/Counterparty Risk, Regulatory Relations, Strategic Enterprise Risk Management, Conduct Oversight, Conduct COE, Model Risk, and the Risk COO. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the Risk Control team to coordinate the implementation and execution of Enterprise Risk Programs such as Risk Identification, Risk Appetite, and Issues Management across Corporate Risk; providing Front Line challenge and escalating issues/concerns as appropriate.
This position will report to the Reporting and Analytics Leader and will be responsible for aggregating/disaggregating metrics and complex datasets, perform practical business analysis, and develop and present insights in a meaningful and easy to understand manner.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide ongoing broad, enterprise-wide analysis and insights of risk from front line activities throughout Corporate Risk, using risk intelligence tools and advanced analytics capabilities to identify emerging trends for front line risk related issues and transforming data into information and actionable insights
Lead the strategic analysis, consolidation, summary and presentation of results to deliver meaningful insights and actionable information to key business leaders across the company to help drive decisions and change, across the enterprise
Owning the development and use of statistical, mathematical and predictive analysis using strategic business understanding to build the mapping and algorithms necessary to derive actionable insights from patterns, trends and correlations across risk datasets
Responsible for executing metrics governance routines in collaboration with Business Control Leaders, Risk Program and Domain leaders.
Consolidate, Manage and Maintain the metrics inventory for all Corporate Risk Control Executive (CRCE) risk coverage areas
Identify and develop CRCE specific risk metrics
Conduct thematic, statistical, trend, and other analysis on metrics to identify and monitor risk concentrations and emerging risk
Aggregation/Disaggregation of risk metrics
Mentor and lead junior resources. Assign, Manage and Track activities of junior team members
Maintaining a well-documented metrics repository with detailed metrics metadata inclusive of metric rationale, boundary rationale, metric calculations, controls linkage, process/sub-process/domain mapping, and other relevant metrics attributes.
Support and partner with Business Control Leaders, Risk Program and Domain leaders in the development of metrics reports and routines
Developing high-quality, validated, and trusted risk metrics reports that ensures an accurate depiction of risk, risk trends and change-in-risk states
Building automated data quality processes and validation routines to reduce manual validation efforts
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the line of business, corporate regulatory, operational risk and compliance peers
7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management
Advanced Microsoft Access skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
Other Desired Qualifications
Advanced knowledge in more than one analytics tools - Advanced Excel, Tableau, Microsoft SSRS, SAS.
Experience with text analytics, regression, classification, statistics, etc.
Experience with SQL or other querying languages, scripting languages, & big data technologies
Ability to synthesize complex analytical findings into executive level communications
Ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
Information technology experience in areas such as systems development lifecycle, architecture and information security to design, build and maintain robust and supportable reporting and analytical solutions
Experience with assessing risk exposure across adequacy of policies, procedures, processes, systems, compliance and operational controls in a significantly large and complex organization
Experience with regulatory requirements and frameworks including FFIEC, COBIT, COSO, NIST, ISO
A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, economics, statistics, mathematics or other quantitative field
Experience with quality control and the development and documentation of processes and procedures
Strong organizational and project management experience.
Ability to work with and influence peers, leaders and team members at all levels and across functional lines
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
