We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a Food Safety Quality Assurance/Research & Development manager-level position. The primary role of the position is to manage, develop, organize, and implement food safety and quality programs, as well as oversee the quality and food safety of all products produced at our co-manufacturer. This position will also be responsible for all product development, regulatory compliance, organization and management of all product and ingredient specifications, supplier approvals, testing programs, sensory evaluations, label development and compliance, and key project initiatives.
Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
Responsible and accountable for setting and executing QA and food safety processes, product development, and special projects designed to improve overall product quality and efficiencies
Develop and implement food safety and QA programs and have direct involvement with co-manufacturer, empowering them to produce high quality products efficiently and consistently, as well as follow all food safety programs to ensure product safety
Manage all incoming raw materials, production and products to ensure compliance to all regulatory, customer and company requirements
Track innovation trends and develop products that are of high quality and cost effective
Develop, review and/or approve SOPs that guide R&D processes, ensuring that internal and external guidelines and regulations are followed
Direct involvement with ingredient suppliers to review and/or approve ingredients that are compliant with our certifications and are cost effective
Lead sensory evaluations and testing for finished product samples and ensure consistency within production runs at co-manufacturer
Oversee all testing and analytical results for all products and ensure timely reporting from co-manufacturer
Conduct shelf life studies or any other relevant testing on our products
Organize, upkeep, and manage all finished product and ingredient specifications
Maintain all certifications current for label compliance, including but not limited to Non-GMO Project, GFCO, Vegan, Plant Based, Go Texan, Kosher.
Manage all consumer and customer complaints, and follow through with co-manufacturer for corrective actions and preventive action plans
Maintain contact between Sales and Operations to efficiently communicate any customer and consumer needs, as well as corrective and preventive actions for any issues that arise
Qualifications and Requirements
BS in Food Science or related field
Possess a minimum of 5 years work experience in food science, manufacturing, quality assurance, food safety, R&D, bakery, and related fields
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create professional and technical reports and presentations in a timely manner
Self-motivated, driven, and detailed oriented with the ability to work in a fast-growing environment
Posses strong time and project management skills
Have labeling and nutritional software experience, as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements
Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Travel & Physical Demands
Travel between company sites as well as vendors and co-manufacturers will be required.
