Indiana Wesleyan University is at the crossroads of a cloud-first and information management consolidation strategy and, as such, is seeking a person who will oversee teams that play pivotal roles in the maturation of cloud services, enterprise information management, and value proposition that IT brings to the institution. The successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring both the Enterprise Applications and Infrastructure teams are integrated under a single, strategic leadership model, with a compelling vision of supporting the institution to leverage technology and information as an asset. The successful candidate will balance technical acumen with business leadership capabilities, and along with their peers and teams, will proactively provide solutions that allow the organizational units to thrive and serve our students. The successful candidate will be required to have strong relationships with third-party solutions providers, and the ability to effectively manage the shift to a strategic, cloud-first posture for the institution. The Deputy CIO must operate strategically and continue to integrate the Infrastructure and Enterprise groups more closely to increase University Information Technology’s ability to transform and serve institutional needs quickly. A key requirement of this role is the ability to think in terms of institutional alignment and agility. A strong focus on the ability to manage service provider relationships and broker agreements is critical. This role requires close alignment with the different business units within IWU, and serves as an important advisor to the CIO in terms of setting direction and vision for a top-performing team of technologists. The successful candidate will have experience with and be capable of recommending technologies, services, and processes that focus on long-term growth of the organization, not just current needs.
The Deputy CIO and Executive Director of Infrastructure and Enterprise Applications leads, influences, and manages a staff of IT professionals in maintaining applications and systems and related infrastructures, and coordinates the design, build, and integration of new application solutions. Areas of responsibility include Network Services, Systems Administration, Enterprise Applications teams, and associated sub-administration teams. The successful candidate will ensure effective communication and visibility into division offerings, changes, and challenges. Above all, the successful candidate will balance technical acumen and the ability to execute with humility and a growth mindset. While a technical background is required, significant weight will be given to candidates possessing excellent leadership qualities.
Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in managing professional technical staff positions.
At least 5 years of experience working within an organization with a strong enterprise grade infrastructure or applications group.
Demonstrated ability to apply best practices in project management and timely deliverable.
Business development at a strategic level
Demonstrated experience leading teams that deliver technology solutions.
Demonstrated increasing level of responsibility in leadership roles.
Building business cases and creating business plans and proposals.
Strong knowledge of ERP’s, Cloud-Service SLA’s and vendor management, reporting applications, monitoring tools, system configuration best practices, network and security credentials systems, Microsoft Office, cloud services including SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, disaster recovery and business continuity best practices.
