The College of St. Scholastica Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) Program is seeking qualified candidates for a full time Program Director and Academic Department Chair. The Program Director will also hold academic rank and is tenure track eligible dependent upon experience and qualifications. This twelve month administrative position is responsible for operational leadership and long-term strategic direction of the program. The Program Director oversees a team of five full-time faculty, one medical director, four full-time staff and additional part-time instructional faculty. This two-year program annually admits a thirty student cohort. The MSPAS program holds the status of Accredited-Provisional from the ARC-PA, and has successfully completed two of the three required accreditation site visits, with the final visit anticipated in the spring of 2021.
Key Responsibilities: • Effectively leading the program by exhibiting: – Responsiveness to issues related to personnel – Strong communication skills – Proactive problem solving – A student-centered approach to graduate education • Serving as academic department chair and program leader responsible for: – Program organization – Oversight and direction of program administration – Overall fiscal management of the program • Providing oversight of continuous programmatic review and analysis, in collaboration with the principal faculty • Leading evidence-based ongoing program development and program planning in collaboration with the principal faculty • Ensuring adherence to ARC-PA Standards and policies, including completion of ARC-PA reports and other required documents • Managing the program’s accreditation processes as required by the ARC-PA, including leading a successful final provisional site visit and attainment of accreditation-continued • Overseeing the admission process for students (including CASPA) and information sessions for prospective students • Collaborating with program faculty and instructional staff to develop and revise curriculum and manage the program budget • Preparing reports as needed for the College, ARC-PA and the Higher Learning Commission • Assisting with the ongoing procurement of clinical placements • Adhering to the overall instructional, scholarly, and service professional expectations of the department • Supervising the medical director, principal and instructional faculty, and program staff • Serving as an Academic Department Chair for the PA Program and managing faculty and staff evaluations as well as academic operations
The position requires a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited PA program. A Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DMSc, ScD, etc.) is preferred. Must be a PA-C with current NCCPA Board Certification, and be licensed to practice as a PA in the State of Minnesota within six-months of appointment as Program Director. Previous program administrative experience, experience with accreditation procedures and program assessment, at least three years of teaching experience, and five years of clinical experience as a PA are required. Effective leadership skills with strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders required. Preferred qualifications include leadership experience including team and project management, experience working effectively with a wide diversity of people, and strong cross-cultural communication skills.
