Under the supervision of the Executive Director (ED), the Grant Writer will assist with grant preparation, submission, tracking and reporting for government, corporate, and foundation funders. The Grant Writer will work with ED and Program Coordinator to develop funding proposals. Based in the Hudson Valley, New York with remote work option. Part-time contract position.
Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the work of Barrett Art Center and its mission and programs;
Identify grants, prepare letters of inquiry, grant proposals, narrative sections of funding applications, and supporting documents for number of prospects agreed upon in contract with BAC;
Work with ED and Program Coordinator to compile program budgets and data for proposals;
Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials;
Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals;
Update/maintain online grants submission, grantor communications, and internal reporting calendar;
Create a grants calendar for BAC;
Participate in regularly scheduled virtual/phone meetings with ED.
B.A. or B.S. preferred
Minimum of 3 years of successful grant writing experience in a nonprofit environment preferred, arts organization experience a plus
Outstanding research, writing, editing and oral communications skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
Outstanding time management and project management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Proficiency in the use of standard foundation online submission tools
Familiarity with regional and arts non-profit funders a plus
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: This position is based on completion of projects as described in contract to amount of $5,000.
Estimated 10-12 hrs/wk for period of 8-10 weeks. (Approximately $45-50 per hour).
This contract position does not offer health insurance, or paid vacation, holidays, sick/personal leave.
