Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to act as a technical specialist and resource to the TES Department assuring that operations are performed as efficiently as possible and in compliance with safety, cross contamination prevention, microbiological contamination prevention, product quality, occupational health, product registrations, environmental protection, process safety and industrial hygiene. Proficiency in both English/Spanish (reading, writing and speaking) is a requirement for this role. .

Formula for Success
Relying on your working knowledge of engineering and related practices, you will be responsible for continuous optimization of production efficiencies and monitor production efficiencies of formulation processes.
Leveraging you bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering (Professional Engineer license preferred) and your experience in chemical and/or pharmaceutical processes, you will identify, specify and recommend new equipment and modify existing units to improve production rates.
Utilizing your deep knowledge of process equipment and chemical processes, you will be the ORT Site leader for the introduction of new formulations. You will also be responsible for the consistency check of the site's formulations.
Demonstrating your knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Clean Air Act, and Puerto Rico regulations, you will ensure product compliance with government registrations and customer countries' acceptance.
Your proven ability to work in a team environment will be essential as you facilitate training for supervisors and operators related to process changes.
Using your computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Lotus Notes, etc.), you will provide support during start up activities to implement process changes and process optimization.
Your strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability will serve you well as you prepare management changes and perform incident investigations related to processes incidents.
Your unwavering commitment to compliance and workplace safety will be evident as you will be responsible for the compliance of BASF's program standards such as, environmental, safety, process safety, industrial hygiene, and site KPI's. Additionally, you will support the following programs: Safety, Environmental Protection, Quality, Process Safety Management and Industrial Hygiene.
Working independently, and often as an engineering team leader, you will provide technical support to perform plant capacity studies and for the preparation of new product cost analysis and feasibility studies and identifying and/or recommending capital investment projects and cost reduction projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the Project Managers in the design, selection and installation of new equipment and/or improvements to existing equipment. In addition, you will be acting as Project Manager for investments activities as necessary.
