Division of Epidemiology and Community Health The purpose of this position is to conduct research study visits for the Aging and Cognitive Health Evaluation in Elders (ACHIEVE) Trial. In this position, it is essential to adhere to strict study protocol during all phases of the research trial, from screening and consenting through final visits.
Continuation in the position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain study certification in administration of psychological and cognitive tests.
Job Duties: 50% - Administer and score psychological and cognitive tests according to study protocol. 50% - Perform other roles and responsibilities as needed by the study, for example:
Schedule participants for follow-up visits.
Obtain medical history, mini-mental state exam, anthropometry, seated blood pressure, physical activity assessment, grip strength, history of falls and hospitalizations.
Perform other duties as assigned
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
BA/BS from a regionally accredited college or university or the combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
Experience adhering to rigid protocol standards.
At least 80 hours of experience administering cognitive tests.
At least 3 months experience in settings involving long-term clinical trials or epidemiologic cohort studies.
Experience in administering and scoring any of the following cognitive tests: Delayed Word Recall, Digit Symbol Substitution, Incidental Learning, Trail Making, Logical Memory, Digit Span Backward, Boston Naming, World Fluency, Animal Naming, Clinical Dementia Rating Scale.
Ability to work in a team setting
Demonstrated / documented ability to communicate verbally and in writing with elderly people of diverse racial and educational backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work independently on research activities.
Certification as a “Specialist in Psychometry” by the National Association of Psychometrists.
