The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University is accepting applications from candidates in all areas of ECE for special faculty positions for our Pittsburgh campus. We have particular interest in candidates who focus on cyberphysical systems, ubiquitous computing, energy systems and digital storage systems.
Our ECE department and College of Engineering are ranked among the top programs in the United States, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are an extremely collaborative department with ties to several multidisciplinary institutes and centers. We collaborate with colleagues around the world through a number of research and educational programs. We have world-class experimental and computing infrastructure, including state-of-the-art nanofabrication facilities.
Our mission is to be a creative driving force of the highest scholarly and entrepreneurial quality that will inspire and educate engineers to solve important societal challenges. The foundation of our collaborative research is based on a strong practice of inclusion. We take pride and active steps in considering a diverse applicant pool in terms of gender, race, veteran status, and disability. Carnegie Mellon University further seeks to meet the needs of dual-career couples and is a member of the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) that assists with dual-career searches.
We are seeking individuals who hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and have demonstrated commitment to our core values: creativity, quality, innovation, and engineering solutions.
Special faculty appointments may be granted for a term of one to three years at most, subject to departmental needs, for candidates who would benefit from a full faculty experience prior to starting their academic career. A special faculty appointment does not guarantee a path to a teaching-, research-, or tenure-track position in ECE or elsewhere at CMU.
We will consider applications fitting our needs throughout the academic year.
