The New School and Parsons Entrepreneur Academy (EA) seeks an experienced, content and curriculum development leader for the position of Director of Digital Learning, Creative Entrepreneurship. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will lead all production activities including curriculum development, content production, and the creation of unique training programs for Parsons Entrepreneur Academy. Role Overview The Director of Digital Learning will be a key member of the team that is transforming digital learning for working creative professionals. This person is charged with developing online training experiences as well as connecting Parsons alums with industry professionals and creative entrepreneurs around the world. You will help to develop the products and services that support the reality of what it takes to be a successful creative entrepreneur in the 21st century.
The Director of Digital Learning will provide leadership for the development and expansion of online educational programs for creative entrepreneurs. They will work with college deans, instructors, industry professionals, and others internal and external to the University to develop online content and training that address the challenges and desires of creative professionals. This person should be an innovative thinker who can express and implement creative ideas and diligently deliver results within a tight production timeline. This individual must thrive in a startup environment: dynamic, fast-paced, inclusive, and highly team-oriented. They will communicate with a wide variety of key stakeholders, both internal and external. They will bring excitement about forming the future of online education and supporting independent artists.
Lead the strategy and execution of curriculum development and delivery to help creative entrepreneurs design and build a business around their art.
Oversee the instructional design, development, and delivery of creative entrepreneurship online courses and programs.
Manage all aspects of course content creation for online instruction including curriculum design, graphics, video, scripting, and production.
Create curriculum development and assessment reports, as needed.
Train and supervise Course Developers and student assistants who support instructors.
Organize and lead instructor workshops; provide expertise on effective practices and strategies of online instruction.
Collaborate with University teams supporting online initiatives, including academic leadership, Marketing & Communications, and Distributed Education.
Work with and help to coordinate the efforts of the administrative, finance, platform, technical, content, student support, business development, and marketing teams.
Recruit staff and lead, manage, and mentor them for professional growth. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
At least five years of experience in designing and developing courses for academic or creative online programs and related instructor support.
Proven experience with program and curriculum series development, including managing course developers and instructors as well as course evaluation and assessment.
Experience creating and managing courses in Canvas, Kajabi, or comparable Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Strong people skills and the ability to foster collegiality and team building and motivate others to produce and perform.
Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, responsibility, and budget oversight.
Strong organizational skills, with strong decision making, written and verbal abilities, and the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and attention to detail.
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, business understanding, and negotiation skills.
Ability to handle confidential matters with integrity and complete confidentiality.
A sense of humor; professional and intellectual curiosity; flexibility and creativity; self-directed and collaborative mindset.
Demonstrated interest in The New School and its mission, higher education services and strategy, creative entrepreneurship, data analysis, and/or project management.
Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
Experience leading innovative approaches to new, future-facing learning modalities.
Familiarity with the online professional development and continuing education competitive landscape.
Experience developing educational material that appeals directly to the consumer
