Senior Research Associate, Center for Retirement Initiatives - Georgetown University Main Campus

The Senior Research Associate position is designed to support the work of the Center for Retirement Initiatives. This position is designed for a candidate who is looking for a work arrangement to complement continuing graduate degree studies (i.e., a Ph.D. program) or the need for flexibility suited for a part-time work arrangement.
The Senior Research Associate is responsible, detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic and desire to learn about driving policy change at the state and federal level through the Center's education and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the work of the Center which is focused on improving the financial and retirement security of millions of American workers.
The Senior Research Associate should be able to work with limited, guided supervision and contribute substantively to the research, education and advocacy work of the Center. The Senior Research Associate will be responsible for managing projects related to maintaining the Center's state and other legislative tracking programs; analyzing state and federal legislative proposals, regulatory policies and legal issues; overseeing the maintenance of the State Resource Center; working independently to conduct original qualitative and quantitative research as well as policy analysis and presenting findings through policy briefs and papers and/or contribute as a co-author to such publications; preparing articles, columns, fact sheets, blog posts, talking points, presentations; taking the initiative to suggest topics for research, education and communications initiatives; participating in advocacy efforts; helping with meeting and event planning; and performing other duties as assigned.
Reporting to the Center's Executive Director, the Senior Research Associate's duties include, but are not limited to:
Research, Writing, & Policy Analysis
Works independently to conduct original qualitative and quantitative research as well as policy analysis and presenting findings through policy briefs and papers and/or contribute as a co-author to such publications.
Contributes information, data and/or writing to materials produced by the Center.
Analyzes state and federal legislative proposals, regulatory policies and legal issues.
Oversees the maintenance of the State Resource Center.
Prepares articles, columns, fact sheets, blog posts, talking points, and presentations.
State, Federal and International Legislative and Program Implementation
Prepares legislative summaries and related documents.
Prepares program summaries and related documents.
Reviews, summarizes, and analyzes international programs and reforms.
Maintains state resource center and other website related content.
Helps plan, attend and/or participate in internal and external meetings or events.
Qualifications The Senior Research Associate is well organized and detail oriented, has strong research and analytical skills, as well as strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills. High degree of professionalism is required. Must also have strong technology and digital skills. The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and experience:
Graduate degree strongly preferred (MPA, MBA, JD); Individuals with Ph.D.s or currently enrolled in a Ph.D. Program in a subject relevant program, such as government, economics, or public administration are also welcome to apply
Strong interest in business, economics and public policy (as it relates to financial well-being, inclusion, and security, financial services, asset building, retirement security, aging and demographic trends)
Demonstrated interest in research (through previous work experience)
At least 2-3 years of previous related work experience, preferably in a government or nonprofit organization (employment in government, a nonprofit or a think tank and some policy related research experience) with state level work experience a plus
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
Ability to take independent ownership and initiative
Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
Experience with technology and digital tools (common computer software packages, social media, graphic design programs)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
