Job Description Summary: This position provides scientific leadership, management, and expertise, and business management support. The Research Associate enables ERI, OU, and OUWB, biomedical researchers to be more competitive for extramural funding, by designing, developing, and/or implementing digital imaging approaches, and by training fellows and/or students in advanced microscopy techniques. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in cell/molecular/neurobiology, biochemistry, or biophysics, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced training and expertise in digital imaging theory and practice for biological applications, including light and/or electron microscopy. Proficiency with associated wet lab methods, support instrumentation, and basic image analysis software. Experience that includes new instrument selection and setup, and new method development. Demonstrated ability to productively develop, execute and track multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. Able to efficiently maintain facility infrastructure, including instrumentation, consumables, project records/materials, service contracts, and user invoicing. Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in cell/molecular/neurobiology, biochemistry, or biophysics, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expertise using advanced acquisition and analysis software applications, including NIS-Elements, Zeiss Zen Blue, Imaris, Metamorph, and/or equivalents. Expertise optimizing 3D reconstructions using deconvolved confocal and/or structured illumination Z-stacks. Experience developing, troubleshooting, and implementing analytical and quantitative imaging approaches for light and/or electron microscopy. |
