The successful candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of instructional design and curricular development issues related to teaching and learning in traditional, hybrid/blended, and online courses, as well as experience using a wide range of hardware and software tools to develop instructional materials. The Instructional Design Support Specialist will join a team that works collaboratively to support the teaching and learning mission of the University.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities Work closely with the existing instructional design staff and provide instructional design support to faculty and staff
Support the continued improvement and maintenance of the online programs through course design, course and program evaluations, and course revisions
Assist faculty and course administrators to update existing supplemental, blended, and fully online course websites adhering to department/school standards
Collect, analyze, and report data on the program progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Support the offering of ADA, Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 compliant content for online programs (i.e., ensure all videos, content, and graphics are properly developed with ADA and Section 508 guidelines)
Assume project management responsibilities for course revisions
Advise and instruct faculty on the development of pedagogical strategies and instructional technology resources
Support faculty and staff in the application of technology to the curriculum
Create documents that support the instructional mission
Research and evaluate industry trends and best practices. Work with team to solve design challenges.
Work with instructional design team to pilot instructional technology tools
Assist in the creation and implementation of instructional technology products
Staff academic committees, task forces, and other working groups as assigned
Prepares reports as needed and assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or related field
One (1) year of progressively responsible related experience in the field of instructional/educational technology, including designing, developing, and managing higher education technology-based instruction projects and programs.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the * JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

Prior experience working closely with higher education faculty members preferred.
Working knowledge of issues surrounding open education and open educational resources.
Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to collect data, create reports, and prepare written communication with an attention to detail and accuracy.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint.
Teaching experience at the graduate level; Understanding of public health
