The Information and Technology Services (ITS) organization at the University of Michigan has a great opportunity for an Application Developer in the Enterprise Application Services (EAS) Human Capital Management Application Development team. The developer will work on a variety of projects using PeopleTools, .Net, Oracle databases, XML/JSON, and Web Service APIs. The interest in learning new technologies (such as Python) is expected. The developer will collaborate with various groups (customers, business system analysts, technical infrastructure) to address application issues. Collaborates with users, customers, and business analysts to review modification requests, define programming needs and develop code and solutions that balance requirements and risk, maintainability, and impact. Programming solutions include modifications/additions to existing code to meet new and pre-existing requirements.
Provides accurate time estimates for tasks, identifies impacted teams, and notifies management of potential risks and issues.
Proactively seeks information and utilizes analytical and creative problem solving skills along with standard processes and technologies resulting in secure and reliable connections to and use of systems, applications, and infrastructure.
Demonstrates relationship building, effective communication skills, and quality service in the process of collaborating with, supporting, advising, and educating customers and team members on the use of services, handling of sensitive data, and resolving incidents, resulting in efficient, effective, and compliant use of software and services. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
Minimum two (2) years experience with developing on ERP software.
Experience working with relational database technology to support web applications.

Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management, process mapping and improvement, project management, and production support
Demonstrated understanding of the development environment and common issues around the technical area

Familiarity with Restful and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) application programming interfaces (API)

Previous experience with Peoplesoft HCM enterprise system development.
Previous experience developing, customizing and supporting applications using Oracle/PeopleSoft application development tools, including PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQR, COBOL, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Web Services, Workflow Engine and BI Publisher.
Previous experience using the PeopleSoft Update Manager to apply delivered application maintenance
Previous experience using or creating APIs and Web Services.
Experience with cloud platform (Azure/AWS/GCP)
Experience in full life cycle software development using Agile practice
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Normal amount of sitting, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer; travel to various locations on and off campus. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. May require on-call availability and may require working during non-business hours and on weekends.
