SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Burlington School is seeking a qualified and passionate full-time Upper School Chemistry and Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. Qualified candidates should have working knowledge of the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and be able to teach students in both Upper School and Middle School. This position is for the 2020-2021 school year.
Select and plan appropriate learning and teaching activities that are in alignment with curriculum, engaging and interactive, and push students to think critically about content
Exercise good classroom judgment with use of fair and consistent standards, which are clearly articulated to the students
Communicate regularly with parents engaging them as part of their student's learning
Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with Administration, fellow teachers and parents
Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of the students
Provide a safe and positive learning environment for all
Act as an advisor to students
Bachelor’s Degree in required; prior classroom experience and a teaching certificate strongly preferred
Highly developed written, communication and listening skills
Ability to effectively monitor, positively influence and coach students
Strong organizational skills
Basic knowledge and understanding of Google applications including Google Drive, Google Classroom. Google Docs
Experience with SmartBoard software, an online gradebook, and other digital teaching methods
