Perkins Coie LLP has an immediate opening for a Technology Education Specialist. In this role, you will work as part of the firm-wide Technology Training Department and work closed with local/regional offices. The Technology Education Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering technology training to the firm’s legal and administrative staff that addresses specific needs of their job roles and increases their efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace. The role requires a passion for engaging with learners and understanding the needs and demands of their jobs.
Deliver technology training on firm-standard applications for both newly hired employees and existing attorneys and staff. Training delivery includes live classroom, virtual facilitation, and one-on-one coaching/instruction
Collaborate and work as part of the firm-wide technology training team; provide input into and execute technology training strategy as direct by the Technology Training manager.
Build strong relationships with practice groups and departments; understanding their processes and workflows and identifying opportunities to leverage technology to drive efficiencies. Align needs and requirements to training content.
Act as a liaison between business users (lawyers and staff) and IT to gather technology feedback and translate user workflows and unique requirements.
Assist in developing role-based learning paths aligned with core competencies.
Actively participate in various assigned projects around the implementation of new or upgraded technology. Assist by participating in pilot orientation sessions, aligning design and delivery with training best practices, and soliciting feedback from pilot users on the effectiveness of learning materials.
Create, publish, and maintain learning materials including user manuals, quick reference guides, eLearning, and online help for self-service on firm applications for use on multiple devices.
Review technical information and content prepared by others for clarity, consistency, and content quality. Identify end-user help issues and respond with innovative solutions.
Required Skills: Proven proficiency delivering effective technology training programs both in-person or via web-based and remote access technology. Ability to establish credibility with attorneys and staff as a valuable resource and trusted advisor in technical training and applications. Advanced knowledge of Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with legal applications and concepts (such as document management systems and document assembly tools). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt content to a specific audience or to suit the training delivery method. Excellent group facilitation skills - both during classroom instruction and as a moderator of group meeting with key stakeholders, partners, associates, and staff. Be a self-starter able to work independently on assigned projects, while actively collaborating and working as part of a geographically dispersed team. Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle. Industry certifications highly desired (Association for Talent Development, Society of Technical Communication, Microsoft MOS, etc.) but not required.
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred. 5+ years of experience designing, creating, and delivering technical training to legal or professional services audience.
