The Stanford King Center on Global Development is a joint research initiative between the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) and the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (Stanford Seed). The King Center's goal is to improve the lives of the world's poor by catalyzing research, energizing students, and collaborating with thought leaders around the globe.
The center works to convene and support a multi-disciplinary community of Stanford scholars who perform path-breaking research, create transformative student experiences, and shape policy and practice. The center supports these major types of activities: Major multi-faculty research initiatives; research support and community building for faculty and students; student programs that provide opportunities for research, study, and hands-on experience, on and beyond campus; and engaging leaders in the private and public sectors to inform policy.
The King Center is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Digital Communications Coordinator (one year, Fixed Term). This person will report directly to the center's Communications Manager and work with SIEPR and Stanford Seed's Directors of Communications.
Under minimal supervision and with guidance from the Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Coordinator will support and optimize the King Center's digital marketing functions. S/he will have an active role in crafting organizational messaging for digital consumption. S/he will develop and scale the center's digital and online channels, such as social media, blogs, and external and internal newsletters.
With an expanding communications presence, the DCSMS2 will be an integral member of the center's Communications Team and contribute to strategic development, marketing, and communications activities. S/he will scale the center's social media and community marketing efforts, generating awareness among consumers and fostering a community.
The ideal candidate is organized, tremendously detail-oriented, and a motivated self-starter with a passion for all things digital communications. S/he should enjoy working in a collaborative environment and comfortable with the ever-changing nature of communication technologies. This role requires a candidate who is eager to learn and has solid communication skills. An interest in global development or development economics is a major plus.
Produce and curate digital content to engage users, increase user base, and grow channels. Optimize content delivery strategies; build content topics, tailor content to outlet platform, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions.
Strategize to build and grow digital community through social media channels, paid advertising campaigns, blogs, and the web.
Manage social listening efforts based on comments and online conversations. Respond to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm.
Compile data, analyze and report on social media use. Analyze how content is performing and create reports with recommendations to management.
Build support for social initiatives among internal stakeholders by acting as internal advocate for advancing efficient internal communication, external digital community efforts, building support and driving digital best practices.
Contribute to overall development and refinement of digital community strategy, and innovative social initiatives by proposing and implementing recommendations.
Provide customer service to constituents across digital channels; Represent organization to constituents, campus, media.
May supervise interns, entry-level staff, and volunteers

Assist in preparing content for internal or external newsletters. Understand email and digital content distribution.
Coordinate and oversee the website editorial and quality assurance process. Ensure website content is user friendly.
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of the web, technology, and social platforms, current, and future trends.

Experience with digital analytics software (e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook Ad Manager, etc.) a plus
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) a plus
International experience and/or economics knowledge a plus
