The Manager of Construction works closely with the Assistant Director in the day-to-day responsibilities of Landscape Services.
This position has oversight responsibility for various landscape services and programs that reach across and/or support the operations of other landscape service units, including new construction, maintenance and repair, signage, parking, street and walk maintenance, and shop operations. This position reports to the department leadership and assists with the execution and implementation of plans, programs, and processes related to small department projects and renovations, with an emphasis on project analysis, management, and shepherding processes. Gives input to the department’s annual budget and recommends necessary budget adjustments and improvements to optimize the use of allocated resources. Provides continuous monitoring of performance standards and budget goals. Develops and facilitates department small improvement projects and renovations processes and practices. Leads efforts to use a project management model to optimize compliance and resource allocation. Develops procedures and work processes to ensure departmental compliance with University policies and applicable external guidance. Evaluates the performance of assigned employees and recommends salary adjustments, promotions and/or corrective action. This position also coordinates campus-wide snow and ice removal programs with the department leadership. Direct reports include Hardscape Maintenance Supervisor and shop mechanics.
Available 24/7 for snow and other weather emergencies.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Landscape Management, or related field plus at least two (2) years project management experience and least three (3) years hardscape, construction, landscape or grounds keeping experience. Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Valid Nebraska driver's license. Must be able to drive a University vehicle.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Prefer 5 years of management or supervisory experience. Commercial snow removal experience helpful. Experience in landscape operation and landscape construction activities desirable. Experience with the maintenance and repair of vehicles and landscape power equipment helpful. CDL preferred.
