Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives and Planning for the Office of the Provost. The Director of Strategic Initiatives provides high-level strategic, analytical, and organizational support to projects and initiatives in the Office of the Provost. The director assists and aids in the planning and execution of programs or events; provides management for and oversees outcomes of projects and initiatives.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Crafts written communication and presentations on behalf of the Office of the Provost.
Compiles and evaluates complex statistical data in collaboration with academic and university-wide units.
Collects and analyzes data from various sources to prepare statistical and narrative reports; provides data-driven recommendations and consultation to the Provost for strategic decision making.
Manages small and large scale projects on behalf of the Provost frequently involving senior university officials.
Provides on-going analysis and delivery of projects to maximize resources and ensure objectives are met in collaboration with the Provost team.
Researches complex issues and recommends possible direction and/or resolution.
Assists with the planning and oversight of meetings and events.
Develops high-level, confidential documents and reports on behalf of the Provost.
Works closely with the ROTC-Air Force, Army, and Navy commanders to provide high level support and supervises the ROTC-Air Force, Army, and Navy support staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in an appropriate academic discipline or higher education administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of academia and current practices in higher education.
A minimum of five (5) years experience in an academic, administrative, or academic support function that includes development of grant proposals, planning documents, accountability, or other complex reports.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent data analysis, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills.
Computer literacy to include advanced word processing and spreadsheet development.
Demonstrates a high level of initiative and judgment in completing ones work.
Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree
Advanced Database experience
Project Management experience
