Major responsibility of the position is to provide strategic and administrative leadership in the area of library and information services and to serve as academic librarian for middle and upper school.

Demonstrate a broad knowledge of the curriculum and exhibit a commitment to integrating information, technology, and digital resources into the curriculum to prepare students to be creative learners and bold leaders.
Plan and work collaboratively with faculty members to use appropriate resources that address curricular needs and learning goals.
Advocate and promote reading and life-long learning across the Pre-K-12 spectrum.
Model excellence in teaching through content, strategies, and assessments in a competency-based framework.
Identify and evaluate new and emerging technologies.
Facilitate discussion and design departmental goals around research, data from evaluation of the current program, and ongoing pursuit of programmatic preeminence.
Participate actively in implementation and execution of growth and evaluation plans for librarians.
Oversee general operations of campus libraries by managing facilities and resources in a manner that supports our mission statement and maximizes intellectual, physical, and digital access to resources.
Assemble annual budget requests. Manage and reconcile library budget; approve and monitor departmental expenditures.
Assess and promote program cohesiveness on an annual basis to ensure consistency throughout the department.
Participate in the hiring process for department members.
Serve as the primary departmental spokesperson to the community.
Serve as an advocate for the department’s interest while recognizing the broader context of Pre-K – 12 grade programs in discussion and decision-making forums.
Assist in establishing and cultivating positive, professional relationships with parents.
Keep the library selection and reconsideration policy up to date. Handle informal complaints; chair the reconsideration committee for any formal complaints.
Conduct or oversee programming and outreach on behalf of the library such as author visits, book fairs, the digital library, and the Library Resource Board on the myPARISH portal.
Serve as academic librarian for middle and upper school.

Represents library program at Academic Council
Education and Experience:
Master of Library Science degree
Five years of experience in a school library at lower, middle, and/or upper levels.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidate must have excellent leadership, communication and technological skills; and should be inquisitive, personable, flexible, energetic, and collegial. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of a teacher.
