Essential Job Duties:
This position is for a key member of the team for the Validation of Equity and Access Rubrics for Mathematics Instruction (VEAR-MI) project. The VEAR-MI project specifically focuses on outlining and investigating instructional practices that support marginalized students' participation, access, and achievement, particularly in the context of high-quality mathematics.
The Project Manager will manage all daily operations of an observational rubric validation study:
Provide support to project principal investigator and co-principal investigators
Coordinate all project efforts between the university, Southern Methodist University, and research consultants at other institutions
Organize and coordinate all project meetings
Assist in efforts to recruit, interview, hire, and train video-data coders
Supervise video-data coders
Coordinate all human subjects (IRB) processes and procedures for the project
Assist in writing project reports, including end-of-year report to funding agency
Oversee project budget and work with budget office to process project payments
Supervise and coordinate project personnel to accomplish all data management, storage, and access.
Support data analyses in mathematics education
Assist in project dissemination efforts (presentations, publications, etc.)
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the project principal investigator.
Position is grant funded and contingent upon the availability of funding.
The Project Manager will be responsible for supervising 10 students at various stages (PhD, masters, and undergraduate students).
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interpret and answer a variety of questions with diplomacy and accuracy
Strong organizational, presentation, and writing skills
Excellent technological skills
Excellent organization and management skills
Must be meticulous, self-directed, conscientious, good listener, quick learner
Ph.D. in mathematics education, elementary education, project management or related fields
Background in mathematics education research
Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and software
Knowledge and experience in academic writing
Experience with IRB
Experience with data base management and data organization
Experience with project budget management
