The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), located within the CUNY New York City College of Technology, provides tuition-free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, providing a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency.
Under supervision of the Academic Affairs Director, the EOC Library/Learning Resources Coordinator assist with the promotion, development, and management of the library and learning resource functions and services of Brooklyn EOC, and assists in integrating them within the educational process.
The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Provide reference services requiring knowledge of research strategies, resources and services.
Assist in enforcing policies governing use and reproduction of materials.
Provide orientation to Library/Learning Resources for staff and students and ensure compliance with EOC policies and procedures.
Schedule tutoring in support of program offerings.
Schedule learning labs and workshops as needed.
Participate in inter-departmental programs to promote and increase student success and retention.
Supervise part-time EOC assistants and student workers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Flexible schedule – day and evening hours required.
Bachelor's degree required.
Bachelor's degree in education or library science preferred. Two years' experience in library and learning resources is preferred. Knowledge of information systems, current development in organizing academic resources and supports. Understanding of needs and challenges of adult students in an urban setting. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills needed; customer service orientation is essential, as is being able to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Proficiency in MS Office is highly desirable.

Assists with Library operations and provides excellent service to Library users in an Educational Opportunity Center.
Coordinates with faculty, students, and librarians to assure needed materials are accessible on a timely basis
Provides workshops, one-on-one assistance, and materials to help orient Library users
Keeps records of library transactions, and generates reports on usage
Exercises sound judgment in enforcing library policies and procedures
May perform and/or supervise daily operations of a service unit such as the Reserve Desk
May assist with cataloging, creating and managing digital resources, acquiring materials, and updating Library web pages
Performs related duties as assigned.
