K-12 MATH EDUCATION RESEARCH SCIENTIST , Comparative Media Studies/Writing (CMS/W)-MIT Teaching Systems Lab , to join a group that develops "teacher practice spaces", i.e., games and simulations that let teachers rehearse for and reflect upon important decisions in teaching. Will play a lead role in the analysis of mixed-methods data collected from a cohort of math teachers in an urban school district to better understand teacher learning through digital simulations, workshops, and coaching. Will be responsible for developing coding schemes for interview transcripts, classroom video, and simulation data; analyzing and synthesizing data; creating presentation-quality figures for reports and manuscripts; leading the drafting of scholarly products; and working with an interdisciplinary team.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : at least five years' experience evaluating math teacher professional learning, especially in schools serving poverty-impacted communities; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Seek a team player who is able to work well with cross functional groups and demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to equity and diversity. PREFERRED : proficiency with R, Stata, Tableau, or equivalent software and eagerness to learn qualitative tools (e.g., ATLAS.ti); experience executing sophisticated research designs; a track record of publishing in impactful scholarly publications; experience with design-based and evaluation research; and an advanced degree in math education, learning science, or related field.
