We are looking specifically for a mix of the following competencies in our new colleague:
Expertise with digital cinema production and workflow.
Experience with analog 16mm image acquisition and post-production
Experience with editing software, including Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Demonstrated expertise in two or more of the following areas: producing and management, visual editing, cinematography, production design, screenwriting, lighting, and/or sound design.
Ability to provide pre- and post-production film instruction to support student work.
The ideal candidate will combine experience in cinema/video production and a strong understanding of the history and theory of cinema. Primary responsibilities will focus on teaching courses within the curriculum at the introductory and intermediate level in hands-on cinema/video production classes. The ideal candidate will be equipped to create an environment centered on active student learning and will maintain a high level of teaching effectiveness. Participation in advising of students and service to the department, school and college is also required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging the success of all students. We also seek candidates who have relevant experience and/or a record of professional engagement with groups and communities underrepresented in the academy. Qualifications: An M.F.A. in the area of media production or a Master's degree plus significant professional experience in cinema/video production is required.
