The System Analyst position supports college initiatives by providing project oversight, system analysis and technical support for processes and systems utilized by the Office of the Registrar and other student services functional areas as required. The role will include determining needs for related software and technical solutions, review of system efficiencies, modifications, enhancements, and the impact on processes; designing office project implementation plans, coordinating projects and establishing systems for meeting project outcomes. The Systems Analyst is responsible for designing and writing program specifications based on consultations with supervisors, developers, and end users in an Oracle environment and for working with Ellucian Banner ERP and a variety of third-party systems in support of student learning and student success.
° Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education. ° Two+ years' experience in systems analysis or programming and working full time in an office environment with work teams, project management, and with work associated with complex systems and/or other similar experiences. ° Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and demonstrated ability to use SQL programming language in a relational database environment to edit and maintain SQL queries. ° Knowledge of current information technologies including but not limited to word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications and Google Apps. ° Working knowledge of Oracle database administration. ° Experience in providing technical assistance to functional users. ° Ability to clearly communicate information effectively to technical and non-technical staff, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner. Possess excellent presentation skills. ° Prior work in facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems and/or databases. ° Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a constantly changing environment. ° Aptitude to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action in resolving problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes. Capability to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information when solving complex issues. ° Project management experience including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. ° Experience with business intelligence, data analytic or data reporting tools. ° Ability to learn and apply new technologies. ° Decision-making, critical, and independent thinking capacities required with a driven capability to identify problems and implement solutions using sound and independent judgement. Capability to identify operational and technical issues with an aptitude for minimizing operational system inefficiencies and to identify solutions and strategies for ongoing improvements. ° Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations. ° High level of organizational skills including a capacity to prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while working with tact and diplomacy. Aptitude for a keen attention to detail. ° Capability to work in a self-directed and self-motivated manner as well as to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment. ° Possess a strong ability to develop good working relationship with colleague offices assisting with processes related to the Office of Registrar. ° Excellent interpersonal skills with an appreciation of and adherence to Gonzaga University's Mission in providing services to all populations.
