The USC Annenberg Press is committed to excellence in communication scholarship, journalism, media research, and application. To advance this goal, we edit and publish prominent scholarly publications that are both innovative and influential, and that chart new courses in their respective fields of study. The Annenberg Press is among the first to deliver journal content online free of charge, and devoted to the wide dissemination of its content. The Managing Editor manages the publication process for the academic journals International Journal of Communication and Information Technologies & International Development as well as development of ebooks and print books in the field of communication study.
Reviews and manages all incoming journal submissions and is responsible for the double-blind refereeing process from an articleâs initial submission to its final publication. Management of the flow among authors, editors, and referees throughout the editorial process. Serves as liaison and primary contact for all reviewers and authors.
Plans and manages the daily operations of the academic journals. Collaborates with the editor-in-chiefs to determine journal content and topics of special issues.
Determines funding support efforts in conjunction with special topic issues and work with international scholars to development two-year plan for each. Â Negotiates special agreements with guest editors of special issues.
Pre-copyedits all accepted articles and works with authors bring to APA-compliance, also recommends enhancements to article for optimum readership.Â Manages all proofs for consistency and accuracy.
Manages the design, art direction, page layout, APA-6 compliance, and graphics for each published paper.
Manages the USC Annenberg Press website and leads all OJS upgrades to the system.
Leads the development execution of marketing and communication strategies to position USC Annenberg Press as a top tier publisher of scholarly publications through promotional efforts.
Leads and manages a team of research assistants in vetting new submissions.
MinimumÂ Education/Qualifications:Â Â
Bachelor's Degree in journalism or communication. Project management with two yearsâ experience in publishing and/or editing.
Experience in publications production and formatting.
Academic background in a communication-related field.
Strategic marketing experience.
Solid leadership and managerial experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Highly innovative, collaborative, and entrepreneurial.
Visionary thinker and strategic planner who is a master at execution.
