The University of Pennsylvania Librariesâ™ Educational Technology and Learning Management Department offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to grow our programs in information literacy and educational technology. Our team empowers faculty, librarians, and other instructors to be more effective teachers and prepares students to be technologically adaptive and information literate researchers, to be engaged and critical thinkers and doers at Penn and beyond.
The information literacy librarian will collaborate with faculty, program administrators, and librarians to integrate information literacy and educational technology into courses and academic programs. They will develop and maintain initiatives that engage students in developing information and digital literacy. Reporting to the Director of Learning Innovation, this person will cultivate programs and partnerships that are inclusive and innovative.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with faculty and academic programs to integrate digital and information literacy and educational technology into courses.
Cultivate and manage Penn Libraries educational technology initiatives to support student success (e.g. Library Lounge, immersive or adaptive learning programs, OERs).
Foster studentsâ™ digital and information literacy through events and programs.
Partner with offices and programs across campus (e.g. CWP, CURF, ISSS) to foster digital and information literacy skills.Â
Facilitates and trains librarians in effective instruction; collaborates with librarians developing and supporting educational technology initiatives.
Maintain current awareness of trends in pedagogy and educational technology. Participate in initiatives, events, and planning in these areas at Penn and beyond. Engage actively with the community; seek opportunities for collaboration.
MLIS or equivalent degree/experience
Professional experience in higher education, academic libraries, and/or working with faculty
Demonstrated experience with educational technology and/or information literacy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population of faculty, students, staff, and members of the general public; a commitment to inclusion and accessibility
