Provides quality control of reports written by others, manages staff, coordinates technical staff activities and manages client accounts to achieve the company's strategic business objectives. Given the geography and startup of local environmental consulting in Honolulu, field activities will at least initially be required for this position. Key project delivery focus areas include scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews reports written by others to ensure they meet company and client protocols and accurately describe the assets.
Conducts site reconnaissance for Phase I ESAs, oversees field subcontractors in performance of Phase II ESAs, and has a willingness to learn or experience in performance of field industrial hygiene services. When needed, drafts reports based on field work. The degree of field involvement will lessen as our position in the marketplace increases, and we can hire junior staff.
Interacts regularly with client(s) to ensure that goals and objectives are established and achieved. Develops and implements action plans to correct variances. Anticipates and responds to the client's needs and concerns.
Manages and leads project management staff in the market and ensures thorough staff understanding and implementation of operations, policies, and procedures.
Provides technical direction and guidance to staff assigned to projects. Manages large portfolios of projects.
Oversees the preparation of accurate, timely, and complete reports to the client and company. May act as subject manager expert in area of expertise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, and corrective action. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelors of Science degree in environmental science, geology, engineering or Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist with 3 years relevant experience or 10 years of environmental related experienced.
For NEPA, Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in above or archeology, historic architecture, architecture history, biology, wetlands science, GIS or related degree.
Minimum of 5 years of related progressive environmental experience. Knowledgeable of federal, state and local environmental requirements.
Preferred candidate will have extensive experience in the Hawaii market, with knowledge of local regulations and customs as well as working knowledge of regulations in the Western Mainland US.
Preference considered for experience in performing subsurface assessment, environmental remediation, environmental compliance, and/or industrial hygiene services.
Advanced degrees considered a plus.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Environmental Professional Or for NEPA meet the Secretary of Interior's Guidelines for Historic Preservation or Professional Certification in Wetland Science.
Certificates such as professional engineer, professional geologist, certified industrial hygienist, asbestos and lead inspector licenses, and/or OSHA Hazardous Waste Operator training with refreshers considered bonuses.
Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret business related documents and offer strong business solutions to clients. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, consultative and exceptional customer service skills and the ability to problem solve. Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, supervisor and/or management.

Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.
