The College of Human Ecology has an opening for a part-time Lab Manager to support the Marianella Casasola Lab (Cornell Play and Learning Lab). The Casasola Lab supports a collaborative multi-site project exploring spatial and cognitive development from infancy into early childhood. The position will conduct their work at Cornell University, but will have frequent contact with study personnel at the other sites (UC Davis and Rutgers). The Lab Manager will coordinate lab activities (meetings, minutes, supplies) as well as coordinate study logistics and activities.
Key responsibilities include: *Assisting with participant recruitment and retention *Conducting testing in eye-tracking studies with infants and young children *Assisting with updating lab protocols and procedures *Scoring of protocols and data entry *Coordination with personnel at other sites to ensure standardization of study protocols
The 50% position will start in June for a one year term with possibility of renewal for a second year.
Associate's Degree in Social Sciences and 2 years experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Additional qualifications include: proven project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage competing time demands; competence utilizing standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet) and learning new applications. In addition, the following attributes are required: initiative; ability to follow instructions; excellent follow through; attention to detail; ability to successfully work independently; the resourcefulness to overcome challenges and solve problems; enthusiasm; organizational skills and a positive and respectful attitude. Previous experience interacting with infants and young children, either in research or in an educational setting.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior experience in the conduct of research studies using human subjects. Experience with data management and statistical analysis (e.g., R, SPSS and/or Excel). Some experience with programming background or a willingness or ability to learn basic programming. Excellent organizational skills and ability to troubleshoot independently are essential parts of the job.
