ABCT seeks Master’s or higher degree in psychology or related field with 2 or more years’ experience (including postdoctoral positions) following terminal degree; licensed or license-eligible.
Academic background in population-based approaches to dissemination (e.g., MPH).
Knowledge and passion about ABCT: cognitive-behavioral orientation and commitment to science and evidence-based principles.
Knowledge of CE principles, and familiarity with organizations that sponsor CEs.
Works well with production schedules; essential in both CE compliance and in developing the educational programs on which they are based
Expertise in public policy related to behavioral health and in appreciation of the political issues and participants impacting behavioral health care.
Willingness to work in NYC.
Experience with professional organizations, building partnerships, project management, and budgeting.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with membership, prospective members, governing structure, staff, media contacts, vendors, and general public.
Expertise with information technology including social media.
Ability to multi-task, work effectively with deadlines, flexibly accommodate changing priorities and/or goals, and produce accurate and thorough work.
Ability to work collaboratively, and to manage others.

Reports to: Executive Director
Works closely with Convention Manager, Membership and Marketing Manager, and Membership Services Assistant
Continuing Education (CE):
Develop ABCT's CE program with ABCT staff and leadership.
Liaise with CE governing organizations (such as but not limited to APA, NADAAC, NBCC, CMFT, and NASW)
Ensure ABCT's compliance with CE guidelines and ensure that new and renewal applications are processed and evaluated appropriately and on time.
Work with ABCT's staff and leadership to hold webinars, Town Halls, and other educational presentations (which may or may not be CE-eligible) consistent with ABCT's mission and strategic plan.
Work closely with Convention Manager and Executive Administrative Assistant:
Oversees all ABCT CE initiatives, including
Convention (working with Convention Manager, Convention and Education Issues Coordinator, convention committees, and the CE Committee),
Webinars (working with CE Committee),
Partnerships with third parties (such as but not limited to RCS; Cadmium;I4A) such that CE process is properly executed from beginning to end.
Develop and maintain ABCT’s on-line learning program:
Collaborate with ABCT staff and leadership to develop and administer ABCT's online CE program.
Determine and recommend topics needed and determine whether appropriate for a series or for one-time presentation.
Utilize statistics and evaluations from ABCT’s webinars and convention ticketed sessions with Convention Manager and Membership and Marketing Manager.
Coordinates and serves as a liaison to speakers for on-line learning; and or liaisons with the CE Committee.
Using demographics, metrics, and educational needs, work with convention and/or CE committees to identify speakers for sessions
Confirms that we are compliant with requirements for CE providers.
Organizes archived webinar and other on-line formats for our website into useful categories (disorder, treatment approach, etc) and that continuing education credit is available for the archived webinars.
Review and confirm that questions supplied by presenter are appropriate for sponsors requirements, paying attention to CE eligibility.
Dissemination and Outreach:
Assist in outreach with the Executive Director, Director of Communications, Membership & Marketing Manager, ABCT leadership, and others to media, public, and healthcare professionals.
Collaborate to develop and maintain materials that articulate the desired public image of ABCT (e.g., through the ABCT website, social media outlets, traditional print, and other appropriate meetings);
Maintain, expand, utilize the ABCT Speakers Bureau.
Monitor media sites to cull articles and other media that can be used to reflect CBT’s utility to the general public; generate introductory paragraphs introducing those articles and the context in which they matter.
Assists Director of Communication with science and clinical accuracy of fact sheets
Other duties as needed.
Assist Convention Manager in the preparation to launch the convention itinerary planner, i.e. proofing technical sessions for grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Help organize and number sessions; combine duplicate users accounts, check sessions for completeness and accuracy.
Assign appropriate number of CE credits to each session. Evaluate sessions to ensure they meet CE requirements in terms of learning objectives, required readings, level of familiarity, topic and key words.
Prepare and send the CE evaluation forms to registration vendor for upload. Determine when sessions should not be awarded CE credit.
Plan and execute the Internship and Post Doc Meet and Greets and the Getting into Graduate School session with the help of the Convention Manager.
Review ticketed events to ensure they meet APA and other CE providers’ guidelines for CE.
Assist Convention Manager with scheduling of all general, ticketed, and poster sessions to avoid presenter conflicts and minimize topic overlap. Distribute sessions by topic evenly throughout program. Assign well- attended sessions to largest meeting rooms.
Assign key words and assist in indexing.
Coalitions and Partnerships:
Forge collaborations with like-minded organizations to drive favorable, educationally oriented actions aimed at decreasing the burden of mental illness.
Work to expand opportunities to attract funding for CBT research priorities, such as by taking part in coalition efforts on specific issues with administrative agencies or by facilitating communication with funding body representatives.
Monitor opportunities to discuss CBT with regulators, legislators, or third-party actors
Work to expand recognition, acceptance, reimbursement, and utilization of CBT as a clinical option.
Collaborate with staff and leadership to help the organization support legislative policies when these policies align with ABCT's Mission.
Ensures that all of these endeavors occur in ordinance with guidelines for organizations of 501c3, c4, and c6 tax-exempt status (lobbying, in particular).
Interacting with volunteer committees and the membership-at-large to provide relevant insights on technology-focused trends or regulations that may impact the association.
Monitors other similar organizations both for partnership opportunities but also for sense of the field: numbers of members, dues, staff size and positions, annual operating budgets.
Monitors Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA), Coalition for the Advancement and Application of Psychological Science (CAAPS), Federation of Associations in Behavioral & Brain Sciences (FABBS), Mental Health Liaison Group (MHLG) and others in North America with idea of evaluating opportunities to sign on with one or more groups to facilitate positive change.
Assists Executive Director and Membership and Marketing Manager with development opportunities and execution.
Manage Press relations:
Manage Press relations including; monitoring coverage, attempting to generate coverage, and
responding to queries.
Manage Speakers’ Bureau,
Coordinates with Meltwater or other outreach/clipping service companies.
Coordinates with Director of Communications so that there’s a common (or complementary) message in PR, social media, general media, etc.
Responsible for taking minutes of the Board of Directors Meetings.
Assists ABCT colleagues as needed.
