The Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) engages donors, alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff and students in a lifelong relationship and fosters a tradition of philanthropy to strengthen the University of Delaware’s legacy as one of the great public institutions of higher education in America.
The Associate Director will serve as a strategic leader on the DAR Communications team - conceptualizing, guiding, executing and analyzing the digital strategy and projects for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director will be responsible for strategy related to blast emails, website presence, social media and more. This position will work collaboratively with all areas of DAR and the Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Delaware. This position supports the overall communication efforts of DAR Communications and is primarily responsible for those priorities related to digital communications and marketing.
Develops and executes a comprehensive digital marketing strategy for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations through video, email and web channels.
Oversees DAR website presence, which includes managing content strategy, analysis of activity on site and pivoting efforts accordingly. Cross-promotes messaging across all digital presences including website, email and social channels. Provides guidance on content and messaging to ensure it aligns with the overall DAR mission and message.
Serves as the primary manager of the DAR email calendar. Analyze and offer strategic solutions to high volume email weeks. Develops email strategy for the department and works with DAR Communications team to implement.
Creates, implements and executes processes for digital team to measure, analyze and report out success of digital communications.
Serves as a strategic partner with email and event tool vendor to ensure that our needs are communicated and met.
Collaborates with key stakeholders as well as internal DAR clients, to optimize digital channels for specific audiences and ensure brand consistency.
Recommends and implements website content and design strategies. Analyzes web traffic metrics and suggest solutions to boost DAR web presence.
Manages a team of communication professionals focused on social media execution, email design and execution, sends and analysis.
Stays abreast of digital technology advancements through professional development opportunities and industry journals; establishes best practices in digital marketing for DAR.
Maintains confidentiality and discretion when dealing with President, high profile donors, volunteers and staff.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of job-related experience in digital communications, marketing or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of web analytics tools.
Practical experience with online marketing tools.
Familiarity with web design and HTML/CSS.
Experience working with video, email and web vendors.
Ability to adapt strategy and channels to a variety of audiences.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
Ability to work with a team as well as independently and to be proactive in seeking solutions.
Willingness to learn the University's key constituents and donors in order to effectively communicate with them.
Works occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
