The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an IT Administrator to provide primary and comprehensive technical support for diagnostic imaging hardware, systems, and software to the faculty, staff, and students, and in particular to the VMC (Veterinary Medical Center) Radiology Section as well as other VMC Sections using digital imaging technology (i.e., Cardiology, Endoscopy, Dentistry, Radiation Oncology, Orthopedics, Research, LA or SA OR, Field Service, etc.). Supports the PACS (Picture Archive and Communications System), and assists hospital IT staff as well as VMC staff to integrate information and images into the PACS and archive system. Provides support to all College of Veterinary Medicine faculty, students, and staff who use desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, software and operating systems installations, data migration and other Information Technologies. Position also involves special projects such as evaluating new operating systems and hardware, cross platform functionality, industry certificate training and exploring new technologies. Identifies, evaluates, supports, and creates resolutions for issues dealing with designing, configuring, troubleshooting, operating, modifying, and repairing hardware and software on both personal desktops and servers. Provides after-hours telephone and on-site support in case of computer-related emergencies and schedules server maintenance as by determined by the IT Team Leader.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities: * Installs and maintains over 800 faculty, staff, and student desktop and laptop computers. * Installs and maintains over 30 imaging systems, including C-arms, fluoroscopes, ultrasounds, MRI and CT scanners, digital radiographic equipment (including portable units), nuclear medicine gamma cameras, linear accelerator, endoscopes, digital microscopes and laser imagers. * Installs and maintains print server and over 100 local and networked printers. * Evaluates user needs, and advises and creates e-quotes or recommended purchase contracts for new computers, printers, and network access devices for faculty and staff. * Plans and implements new computer setup and installation for faculty and staff. * Supports a 10 PC laboratory, a 49 PC classroom, and 10 lecture room PC's. * Plans and implements College-wide Operating System patches and upgrades. * Plans and implements College-wide application software patches and upgrades. * Supports multiple medical laboratories and research areas with special computer and network requirements. * Provides Telephone and e-mail support on an ongoing basis. Provides on-site support for staff and equipment in 6 UT buildings. * Provides after-hours telephone and on-site support for computer and server related emergencies. * Provides after-hours support for scheduled server maintenance or as assigned. * Serves as the hospital liaison to work with IT personnel supporting the HIS (Hospital Information System) to integrate the (planned) RIS (Radiology Information System), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and digital dictation/transcription systems Into the HIS environment day-to-day monitoring of HL7 (Health Level 7) interfaces, archives, image server, web server, PACS broker, PACS database backups, and other duties in support of Diagnostic Imaging operations. * Organizes and directs activities required to accomplish satisfactory uptime levels for the RIS, PACS, digital dictation/transcription system and network infrastructure to assure clinical continuance. * Creates, removes, and organizes users, roles, and secure access to centralized patient images and records for the PACS. * Configures, troubleshoots and repairs PACS and other imaging servers and user software. (e.g. eFilm, Orthoview, ClearCanvas, ImageScope, PACSscan, etc) * Provides modality and peripheral support for diagnostic workstations and radiologic imaging devices including radiographic systems, magnetic resonance imaging systems, computerized axial tomography systems, fluoroscopes, digital microscopes, and other clinical and research imaging systems. * Documents Radiology systems, software, and vendor information. Maintains a list of imaging devices, vendors, contacts and the relevant contact information, as well as maintain an awareness of the maturity of support contracts and the viability of being able to get continued support for older equipment. Composes Hospital-wide SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) documents for imaging systems, including basic usage, and repair protocols. * Remains abreast of new knowledge and standards in the field of digital medical imaging. * Assists Referral Coordinator and Radiology Staff with support for referring veterinary clinics setup and transmission of digital uploads. * Provides backup support of Referral Imaging Facilitator for processing incoming referral patient images. * Communicates digital protocols to referring veterinary clinics to facilitate the setup of digital uploads. * Consults with on-site staff at referring veterinary clinics to troubleshoot uploading DICOM imaging studies to PACS. * Consults with vendor tech support at referring veterinary clinics to assist in the configuration of third-party radiological and other imaging systems to facilitate uploads of HL Seven compliant image studies to PACS. * Develops, implements, and improves security for imaging equipment. * Provides training and technical support for all Intra-and Inter-departmental PACS users. * Updates user Identification and password logins. * Assists the hospital administration in capital procurement and operational budgets by providing technical analysis and requirements. * Attends industry certification classes. * Attends training on new technologies. * Participates in Self-Study using UT's Computer Based Training Modules, UT's Lynda Subscription, and other on-line resources. * Researches new technologies and products. * Collaborates with UTIA Information Technologies Group to coordinate technical support and issues within UTIA. * Maintains collegiate relationships with UT Hospital, referring veterinary hospitals and centers, and other digital imaging teams in the regions to facilitate information sharing regarding imaging products and software, as well as vendor support and other industry issues.
