The AFG Chair was established in 1987 to improve outreach to the community and to strengthen the interdisciplinary ties between the business and technology disciplines at ETSU.
The Chair will serve as a faculty member in the College of Business and Technology and will regularly offer graduate seminars and guest lectures in a variety of advanced classes. The Chair will strengthen the interdisciplinary ties among the College's programs, departments, faculty, and students by promoting communication and encouraging joint long-range planning. The Chair will work with his/her colleagues to identify areas of research interests, sources of grant funds for these projects, and methods of stimulating creative efforts.
The Chair will promote the visibility of ETSU and will engage the business community, conducting public workshops and other activities to support the College's role as a driver of regional economic development. The Chair will actively contribute to developing research and financial support for interdisciplinary academic pursuits and academic/industry collaboration. Experience in building relationships within and among organizations is required, with experience in academic/business partnership preferred.
The Chair will report to the Dean of the College of Business and Technology and will closely collaborate with the academic chairs within the College. Candidates for the position should qualify for a tenure track/tenured faculty position or be individuals who have made major contributions to fields related to the appointment and qualify for a professor of practice position.
The position is a fixed-term appointment, renewable for additional years. The Chair must have credentials and/or experience that merit joint appointment in one or more technology focused disciplines (Computing, Digital Media, Engineering, Engineering Technology) and one or more business focused disciplines (Management, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Accountancy).
