We are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking senior environmental professional in our Environmental Compliance group, who will deliver solid waste management client projects, develop business through networking and proposals to grow APTIM's California presence, contribute to our strategic direction, help us pursue our growth goals, and provide our customers with responsive, high quality customer service.
At APTIM, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge in solid waste management to organize and successfully deliver on existing and future compliance projects. This position is looking for someone experienced in selling and delivering solid waste management services, with an emphasis on organic waste, waste diversion/reduction, and management solutions to clients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provide waste consulting services to each assigned client: including leading and managing existing waste characterization/segregation studies and assessments.
Acts as the company's prime contact with client(s) and is responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on assigned projects.
Develop and implement complex waste management strategies in support of APTIM's strategic growth plan.
Have a leadership role in business development activities across California, leading to the award of solid waste management contracts. This would include client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, proposal preparation, and other activities consistent with established business development practices.
Assist in development of new waste consulting services and marketing materials.
Managing and/or conducting research and analysis on legislation and regulations impacting the recycling, organics, and solid waste industry in California.
Must Have Skills/Experience (Including any required Certifications):
BS degree in an engineering or waste management related discipline, preferable civil, geotechnical, chemical, or environmental engineering.
Minimum of 10 years' experience, including 5 years in the organics, solid waste recycling, composting field.
Project management experience, preferable including the management of waste characterization studies, solid waste feasibility studies, rate studies, zero waste strategic planning, etc.
Experience leading waste audits and characterization studies preferred.
Experience marketing and selling solid waste services to state/local and commercial sector clients.
A strong understanding of federal and state solid waste regulations, specifically as they pertain to AB939, AB1826, SB1383, etc.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Must be detail oriented, flexible, and self-motivated.
