The Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC) is a multi-disciplinary, nonprofit architecture and urban design firm within the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Architecture. DCDC is dedicated to creating sustainable spaces and communities through quality design and the collaborative process. DCDC is seeking qualified candidates with a background in landscape architecture and/or architecture. The Designer and Project Manager will be an integral part of the DCDC team and will have the opportunity to work directly with community stakeholders on architecture, urban design and/or landscape architecture projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(1) Project Management. (2) Project Design. (3) Develop community engagement and participatory design strategies. (4) Collaborate and communicate with community partners and non-profit partners. (5) Collaborate with local and state agencies and governmental departments. (6) General office administration (7) Other duties as assigned.
A college degree and a professional certificate or graduate degree.
Experience (Minimum/Preferred): Two years to five years.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient in the following software: Adobe Creative Suite version CS5 or later (specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) AutoCAD version 2013 or later SketchUp Microsoft Office suite of programs (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of the following software a plus: 3DS Max Revit Prezi Strong graphic design ability. Strong ability to build physical models and to develop three-dimensional representations of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, etc. projects in the form of digital collages and renderings. Must have good communication skills and a strong desire to work with community stakeholders and citywide partners. Must have excellent project management skills including well organized, efficient, a strong ability to manage project schedules, deliverables and staff assigned to projects. Must be self directed. Strong desire to mentor and work with School of Architecture, Master of Community Development and Digital Media Study students. Strong writing skills.
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. (For DCDC this includes site visits and field measurements of existing lots and buildings, site visits for landscapes and buildings while under construction, organizing and attending outdoor community events, etc.)

Salary/Pay Information: Commensurate with experience
Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends as required.
