Arlington County’s Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development (CPHD) is seeking a Communications Specialist with visual/multimedia expertise. The specialist will be responsible for creating communication and engagement products for high-profile, public-facing initiatives. This will include playing a critical role in delivering educational materials to broad audiences and promoting participation in engagement opportunities.
Specific duties include:
Conceptualizing and developing compelling content for use across a variety of channels;
Applying broad knowledge of communication principles to the design of products such as infographics, brand kits, diagrams, flyers, posters, brochures, videos, and templates for presentations and reports;
Translating complex information, at times from multiple sources, into easy-to-understand visual and written formats;
Acting as expert in determining the best communication method to meet project goals;
Writing and copyediting language to accompany visuals;
Adapting materials to crossover between social media, web, enews, print, engagement tools, surveys, videos, and other multimedia products for promotional and engagement campaigns.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Information, Urban/City Planning or related field;
Significant experience in the communications field, specifically in visual/multimedia and/or community engagement.
