The Department of Educational Technology and Literacy (EDTL) at Towson University is seeking a qualified applicant as Lecturer in Educational Technology or Instructional Design and Development starting in fall of 2020. The EDTL Department offers Ed.D., M.S., and certificate programs in educational technology, instructional design and development, and school library media as well as undergraduate courses in the integration of technology in teaching and learning for prospective teachers and several freshman research seminars. The Department also aims to add a computer science education concentration for K-8 education, and a post-baccalaureate certification in computer science education.
An earned graduate degree in educational technology, instructional design and development, curriculum and instruction, computer science education or closely related areas.
Ability to teach courses related to instructional design and development, integration of technology in teaching and learning, or emerging learning technology in education and training face-to-face and online
An interest in designing and teaching online and blended courses
Knowledge of and experience with instructional design and development, experience in K-12 educational technology initiatives, and a demonstrated commitment to serving diverse and urban student needs
Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: online education, multimedia design in the classroom, student-centered learning, digital communication, universal design for learning, integration of technology into the K-12 curriculum, computer science in education
Emerging record of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience and commitment to excellence in teaching, education, service and to diversity
A doctoral degree in educational technology, instructional design and development, curriculum and instruction, computer science education or closely related areas
Teaching and/or scholarly expertise in online and blended teaching
Knowledge of and experience with teaching multimedia design and development
Knowledge of and experience with teaching computing and computational thinking
Familiarity with the emerging learning technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence
The ideal candidate will be expected to prepare and teach undergraduate and graduate courses offered by the Department and provide service in the area of educational technology and learning design. The candidate should demonstrate evidence of or potential for successful teaching at higher education and/or training and commitment in providing service, advising, and mentoring for undergraduate students.
