St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School is looking for a dynamic coach and team member to facilitate our community technology support efforts. A knowledgeable, considerate and helpful individual who is comfortable troubleshooting issues on a mac, setting up a Virtual Machine, or responding to a question with, “I don’t know, but I’ll find out!”
Comfortable working with multiple teams towards multiple goals, you thrive in a building of excited people learning through doing. Equally at ease helping a child tie a shoe as learning a new machine management utility, you are looking to join a school committed and firm in the belief that technology is A tool, not THE tool, always used in service of our bigger goal of encouraging intellectual curiosity and intrepidity.
We’re looking for a technician and communicator who can help us to bridge the gap between highly technical systems and sometimes non-technical audiences, someone who can take on new challenges with aplomb, work with finesse, and then document the whole thing.
Technical Knowledge & Skills Required:
Bachelors degree and two to five years of experience working in a systems or network administration capacity, preferably in an academic setting. You should also be familiar supporting (or comfortable with learning) the following:
Network switches and routers.
Wireless management centers.
Firewall and external network controls
MacOS/iOS management platforms.
macOS, iOS, ChromeOS, Windows, and MS Server operating systems.
Print management systems.
Directory services such as Google IDP.
Local and offsite data backups.
Security event logging software.
IP Office phones or any VOIP phone solution.
Security camera, access control and building management systems.
Low-voltage cabling and network connections, including how to make and repair regular use items such as Cat6 cables.
Adaptable and responsive to the ebb and flow of a typical school day.
Equally comfortable working with kids of all ages or computers of all ages.
Passionate about mission-focused academic institutions and deep learning experiences.
An excellent and open writer and communicator of technical issues to non-technical people.
A highly analytical, precise, detail-oriented worker.
Innovative with respect to solving problems and finding solutions.
An effective multi-tasker and project manager.
Self-motivated with respect to learning new tools, techniques, and concepts.
Organized and able to set and re-set priorities.
Ready to say “I don’t know, but I’ll find out!” and demonstrate follow-through on those words.
Appreciative of every school employee’s role as an educator.
Willing to stop to tie a shoe, provide gentle guidance for lunchroom behavior, or help an Upper School student with an independent project.
