1. Sets high-level processing and cataloging priorities in consultation with colleagues across the Beinecke Library, enabling new acquisitions to be cataloged or processed within equilibrium parameters. Ensures an infrastructure, workflow and commitment to this goal. Provides timely and accurate reporting on the status of processing and cataloging not complete.2. Leads the fully funded backlog project which is underway to eliminate the Library's backlog of unprocessed books and manuscripts; provides timely and accurate reporting on progress.3. Responsible for overall leadership, planning, budgeting, administration, supervision and evaluation of unit heads, and the operational effectiveness and staffing of the department.4. Fosters an internal department culture committed to collaboration, communication and respect for each other and colleagues across the Beinecke Library and broader University Library.5. In collaboration with other department heads, conducts long-range strategic planning and goal setting for the Technical Services department. Creates a compelling vision for the department, demonstrates flexibility in approach and motivates others to achieve desired results.6. Explores, proposes, and implements new technologies and procedures to streamline collection management processes and facilitates researcher access to the Beinecke Library's collections.7. Responsible for developing and deploying a new digital library infrastructure.8. Ensures an integrated and coordinated approach to accessioning, cataloging, processing, digitization, and preservation.9. Collaborates with Beinecke staff, the University Library, and colleagues worldwide to ensure that the Library's collections are widely discoverable.10. Builds on the Library's deep understanding and commitment to the development of professional standards and practices for the organization, description and preservation of the Beinecke Library's collections.11. Fosters and models effective documentation and communication of practices and expectations.12. Manages, selects, develops and trains a high performing workforce and fosters an environment that values diversity and individuality. Participates in Beinecke Library and University Library management, assessment, training, and development programs; serves on Library and University committees as appropriate and is active professionally.
