Reporting to the Director of Operations and Auxiliary Services, the Student Accounts Manager is responsible for all student account billings and receivables including collections. Coordinates financial registration, supervises office staff, handles inquiries from students and third party payers, audits student accounts for accuracy and reconciliation with general ledger system, and coordinates activities of Student Accounts Office with other student services departments.
The regular hours for this position are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.
Office lead for student billing, collections, payment plans, third party contracts, and disbursement of federal funds.
Experienced PeopleSoft user working within Student Financials.
Assists the Director in configuration of tuition and fee assessment within PeopleSoft.
Runs queries and analyzes results for student financial reporting and tracking.
Delivers monthly reports on Student Accounts balances.
Reviews aging report and takes corrective action on delinquent accounts.
Assists and participates in bundle testing for system maintenance and upgrades when new releases are implemented.
Creates the communication generations that come from Student Accounts.
Maintains financial and business accuracy in high stress periods.
Serves as a presenter during orientation and other campus events for new and returning students.
Serves on various student services committees as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Individual must consistently demonstrate a high degree of ethics, integrity, and honesty. Extensive knowledge of Title IV cash management regulations and administering federal aid programs. This position requires strong analytical skills to gather and evaluate data from a variety of sources, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Must also possess superior customer service skills, particularly interacting with students and families, and staff and faculty colleagues. In addition to the above, the position requires excellent project management skills; including planning, establishment of objectives, procedures, and standards in order to develop and maintain records in a clear and logical manner. Demonstrated management and supervisory skills.
5 years of experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent customer service and presentation communication skills.
Strong accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) skills.
Excellent organizational skills, supervisory skills, and computer skills.
Must be extremely patient and enjoy working with students, faculty and staff in a University setting.
Must have an operational understanding of the business processes associated with PeopleSoft Student Financials.
Must be exceedingly adaptable to change and be able to transition between system upgrades.
Must be able to work independently and make decisions within the limitations of University policy.
Able to work in a high pressure, teamwork focused environment.
Excellent analytical skills.
Meticulous attention to detail and great accuracy.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and ability. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in student accounts, student financial services, account management, or other related field; 5 years preferred. Experience with Student Information Systems and above-average skills with MS Office applications required. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and meet CGU’s authorized driver’s requirements.
Supervises Student Accounts Specialist and Third-Party Coordinator.
