As a campus crossroads, Fondren Library brings together faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, staff, alumni and the general public, offering welcoming spaces, excellent collections, and strong services in support of teaching, research and creative expression. The Woodson Research Center based at the Fondren Library supports the institutional, research and public service programs of the University with special collections including rare books, university archives, and manuscripts.
The Woodson Research Center includes five full-time archivists working on a variety of collaborative projects. The digital archivist will lead efforts to preserve, describe, and provide access to digital materials (e.g., legacy digital content, digitized content from analog sources, social media content, and born digital materials). S/he will contribute to ongoing development and implementation of policies and assessment of collections to manage stewardship and access. The digital archivist will serve as a liaison to departments of Digital Scholarship Services and Office of Information Technology. This position will report to the head of special collections and collaborate closely with professional archivist staff.
