Recruitment Specialist Office of the Dean, Volgenau School of Engineering
The George Mason University Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE), Office of the Dean, seeks a motivated, people-oriented, and highly organized individual to provide recruitment-focused administrative support to the Human Resources Manager.
The Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for creating job descriptions, writing and posting job announcements, and coordinating with Central HR and the Office of Budget to facilitate the recruitment process within VSE. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience tracking and completing HR-related action items with accuracy and efficiency.

Writing, editing, and updating Employee Work Profiles and recruitment announcements for staff and faculty positions within VSE;
Maintaining an up-to-date tracking system for recruitment actions, from the point of receiving the request to hire to filling the position;
Meeting with hiring supervisors to discuss hiring needs and facilitate the creation of new positions;
Working with George Mason University's Central HR to review, classify, and approve position descriptions;
Coordinating with the Director of Finance and the Office of Budget to ensure that recruitment costs remain within budgetary guidelines;
Serving as Coordinator for Search Committees within VSE to provide guidance on hiring policies and procedures, document the hiring process, and submit the necessary recruitment documents to Human Resources in a timely manner;
Overseeing on-boarding and off-boarding for recruits, including updating hiring documentation, ensuring background checks/transcripts are complete, and conducting exit interviews;
Originating and maintaining a visa tracking system to ensure that faculty and staff maintain necessary work authorizations;
Completing and submitting H-1B visa packets as required for sponsorship purposes;
Providing administrative support to the Human Resources Manager as needed;
Other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated related professional experience (minimum 2 years preferred);
Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills;
Expertise skill-set with writing, editing, and proof-reading in a professional/business environment;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products, including Excel and Word;
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar) and knowledge of database principles;
A self-motivated and collaborative mindset;
Daily use of critical thinking and analytical skills to complete job performance functions;
Demonstrated data analysis and reporting skills;
The ability to work both independently, as well as within a team on a wide variety of tasks.
Bachelor's degree in a field related to human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Experience working in a diverse public institution of higher education;
Experience with data analysis tools such as Microstrategy;
Familiarity with the H-1B visa sponsorship process.
