A Product Champion is responsible for being the business owner for specific products/market segment with the mission to optimize market positions and financial returns.
Key activities include
Collecting VOC from sales, interfacing with Technical Sales Specialists and project management to drive NTD initiatives, supporting product plant selection in ITO process, supporting marketing for communication and analysis, providing input into pricing strategy, building/pitching business case for new products and own the NTD funnel, and developing/maintaining the respective segment strategy. This role demands global product line leadership to initiate, direct, and lead the marketing, sales, and operations initiatives across the business, as well as the ability to lead cross functional teams.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Segment strategy and technology roadmap
Analyzes market segment, customers, and competitors to develop strategy for product, price, distribution channels, and promotion to strengthen market position and grow financial returns
Collaborates with technical sales manager(s) to refine strategy for respective market segment
Responsible for driving execution of strategy and its communication to V&M leadership
Owns the segment technology roadmap from idea creation through concept, design, validation, trial and successful product release
Responsible for composing and maintaining segment strategy document and presentation Product management and development
Creates product vision and strategy and communicates the strategy to all internal stakeholders
Provide technical direction and training on products and applications for internal purposes and development of sales tools
Responsible for the effective product portfolio lifecycle management
Develops and maintains a patent portfolio
Provides professional reports and routine management information
Monitors field related issues (FPR's) and uses input to better revise/improve product or service
Sales and marketing
Responsible for providing messaging to enable execution of marketing strategies (e.g., growth potential, market share)
Supports marketing communications (e.g., product and value proposition messaging, branding, advertising, white papers, trade shows, seminars, and events)
Support improvements outside of technology such as variant configurator, price lists, quality, etc
Responsible for segment pricing strategies (e.g., market strategy pricing, value pricing, transactional pricing) and collaborates with product business unit and account managers to validate pricing strategies Skills required - Segment Manager
Strong knowledge of new technology development process, including idea generation and evaluation, governance approval process, and product development
Experience in marketing strategy (e.g., market/customer insight, segmentation, pricing strategy) and communication skills (e.g., planning and delivery of marketing, technical literature)
Experience in analytics to drive decisions based on intelligent, statistically accurate and complicated projections.
Strong statistics and data analysis skills a must.
Must possess interpersonal skills that encourage collaboration across Sensia.
